Girls GK Selection 3 day Camp wraps up

14 July 2015

Girls GK Selection 3 day Camp wraps up

Girls GK Selection Camp, which started on 11 July with 27 girls, finished all training sessions of the 3 day camp.

On the second day, the U-15 group had 3 National Training Centre Coaches: NISHIIRI, KATO, and ISOGAMI. The U-12 group had TODOROKI and KAGEYAMA National Training Centre Coaches for their training. Each group had sessions for basic forms, catching, stepping, and throwing, and then finished their training with a practice match. The players seemed to be gradually more communicative amongst each other.

Even though the weather in Osaka throughout 3 days was very hot, over 30°C, in Osaka where they had the training, the players could keep good level of concentration on their training sessions.

The training had only 3 days, but the players from all over Japan stayed in the same accommodation and brushed up on their GK skills together. In the end, they have gained good experience and had good lessons to take back to their local teams.

“Girls GK Camp” is the former “Super Girls Project”. JFA changed its name since 2015.

GK Coaches' Comments

KAGEYAMA Keiji, GK Coach (JFA National Training Centre Coach)
At first the players seemed to be nervous with the unfamiliar environment and new training mates, but they became more familiar with each other and communicative especially when they had something they had to ask somebody else. They also became braver to challenge something new not being afraid of making mistakes. Even in such a hot weather, they stayed strong to play consistently.

I expect them to keep trying to be GK in their local teams. Most of all, I appreciate that they ended this 3-days camp in such a positive mood. I personally got a lot of good lesson through joining in this camp. I appreciate the staff that supported this camp.

ISOGAMI Mami, GK Coach (Fairies Iwaki)
I found many players of this camp had such high motivation like last time. There were the players who had never experienced GK or even football before, but they looked very talented GKs when I saw them trying very well maximising what they had just learned. Day by day, their behavior out on the pitch changed for better and I felt their sense of teamwork was improved.

All the players seemed to have good sense of satisfaction through this good training experience. It was good for me, too; I will try to be just same as them in terms of their strong passion to learn as a coach and always be happy to contribute to our local team and communities.

Players' Comments

WATANABE Reina (Masuda Junior High School)
I came here with one purpose: “I will learn a lot of things by watching the others’ play and find what to improve more”. Indeed I could learn many things from the other players and received good advice from coaches, it was very good experience for me.

At first I didn’t know what to do because there weren’t anybody whom I had met before, but I could make good friends once we started playing together; playing sports has a very strong power to make us closer. I will keep my improvement even after this camp and also keep trying hard to overcome some of my issues that I found in this camp.

ABE Chihiro (Shiraoka SCL+)
I am a short person but I always wanted to show my advantages and to improve what I would be told to correct by coaches in this camp. I think I could do both of them. Through joining this camp for GKs, I think I got good lessons to learn about GK basics. I also learned something new so it was very good for me to join in this camp. I will keep working well taking what I have learned from this camp.

IDA Kotoko*
Before coming to this camp, I was very nervous. I have never joined in this type of camp in Japan before so I was excited at the same time as being nervous. Looking at some cool plays of the other players, I just wanted to do things like them. I have learned a lot of things in this camp.

I will go back to Malaysia and there I want to keep working on “passing & supporting”. This is the new thing I learned here, so I want to do more even after leaving Japan. I want to share what I have learned with the other teammates of my local teams in Malaysia.
