Head Coach and Players’ Comments

KUSUNOSE Naoki, Head Coach
During the first and second matches, the players tended to play safely due to a fear of making mistakes, passing the ball in an easy way. That let the opponent steal the ball and we couldn’t take the initiative. Both in attack and defence, all of the players need to move forward consciously, making and using good space repeatedly, in order to take the initiative. In terms of the defence, we must defend in coordination with the front line, keeping up the pressure on the opponent. Then on top of that, we need to improve the quality of the passing and the support movement. Although the opponent struck the opener, the players showed harmonious play, bringing the ball towards the front to level the game. I could see their mental improvement as well.

MIURA Haruka (Urawa Reds Ladies Youth)
I came off the bench in the middle of the match today. Although I couldn’t touch the ball that often, I’m pleased I could try moving into the space behind the opponent several times. During these four days, I learned a lot about everyday life, not to mention about football. I’ll try what I leaned here when I’m back in my club team and improve my issues, so that I’ll get called up again for the next activity.

KANNO Oto (Nippon TV Menina)
We were pressed at the beginning of the match and couldn’t pick up our pace. However, we started to pass the ball around and play our style. I couldn’t shots, when I should have, which was the issue I found during today’s match. I’d like to practice hard in my club team to fix this and improve what I couldn’t do during the camp.
