U-19 Japan National Team activity report at 2014 AFC U-19 Championship in Myanmar (6 Oct)

On their second day in Myanmar, the U-19 Japan National Team held two practice sessions, one in the morning and the other in the afternoon, just like the day before. In the morning, they did some circuit training, including sprinting, jumping and turning with the ball, in order to get themselves into the best condition for their first match. Although it was physically very tough, putting stress on their bodies, the players stayed vocal and soldiered on.

In the afternoon, they held a practice game. As there was a lightning strike near the ground during their warm-up, they had to take a break for 20 minutes. After they refocused during the break, the players did some ten-on-ten with a free player or 11-on-11 training on the whole pitch, using less than two-touches, in order to get used to the ball in Myanmar and also to check the combinations among the players.

The players had dinner at a Japanese restaurant near the hotel. The players as well as the staff were really please to have their usual dishes, such as chicken with teriyaki sauce, mackerel in miso, or Japanese curry and rice in Myanmar. After dinner, the players and restaurant staff exchanged gifts - encouraging gifts for the players and thank-you gifts for the restaurant, finishing with a commemorative photo altogether. The players will continue their practice in preparation for their first game on 9 Oct.

NAKAMURA Kosuke (Kashiwa Reysol)
Today we had good training sessions again just like yesterday. I’d like to continue our preparation tomorrow and the day after tomorrow for our first match. Your support and encouragement will be much appreciated.

SAKAI Daisuke (Oita Trinita U-18)
We’ve been doing physical training yesterday and today, and I think I’m getting myself into the best physical condition. As we stay vocal when we have a tough training session, I feel our team is becoming even more united. We communicate with each other on and off the pitch and there is a very good atmosphere around. Although we have a limited time before our first match, I’d like to be fully ready.
