U-19 Japan National Team activity report at 2014 AFC U-19 Championship in Myanmar (5 Oct)

The U-19 Japan National Team flew from Tokyo to Myanmar for 13 hours on 4 October, after they finished their training camp in Miyazaki. Then they restarted their training sessions the following morning.
In the morning, under the strong sun with temperatures over 30 degrees, the players started with some aerobic training, mainly running, in order to recover from the journey. Kumada Yoshinori, who has been officially sent by JFA to be the head coach of the Myanmar women’s national team, came to the training session to encourage the players and to give some advice about local information.

In the afternoon, the players did some physical training, so that they could get themselves into the best condition for their first match. Although there was a sudden cloud burst just before the session, the players took no notice of the rain and continued to run through the downpour. The rain eased up and they could finish all their training tasks.

The goalkeepers put the final touches to their preparation with interval training. They practiced jumping and saving again and again under the mentorship of Hamano, the goalkeeping coach.

The players will have a morning practice session and an afternoon one the following day in preparation for the game against China on 9 Oct.

OCHI Yamato (Sanno Institure of Management University)
We started our preparation in Myanmar for the championship. We held a good running session in the heat this morning. And then in the afternoon, we did some physical training in the opposite weather - in the heavy rain. Although we haven’t got much time before the match, I’d like to focus on the rest of our practice sessions to improve the quality of the team and our play.

ISHIDA Ryoma(Jubilo Iwata U-18)
Today we held our first training session in Myanmar. In the heat, I tried to move actively to get myself in shape. Then we did some physical training in the strong rain in the afternoon and I felt I got myself into better physical condition. I’d like to prepare myself fully for the match.

KAWABE Hayao(Sanfrecce Hiroshima FC)
We held our practice session in the heat with temperatures over 30 degrees. I felt we needed to get used to the heat. I’d like to prepare both physically and mentally for the match against China. I’ve been feeling relaxed off the pitch and hope that we can start our match in a good way.
