U-16 Japan Women’s National Team started their training camp for the AFC U-16 Women’s Championship China 2015

23 players of U-16 Japan Women’s National Team started their training in Shizuoka on 27 October. The team will depart soon for the AFC U-16 Women’s Championship China 2015.

In the meeting prior to the training, they reviewed their activities and boosted their morale prior to the forthcoming AFC Women’s Championship. The team’s Coach KUSUNOSE said, "You have worked as short-listed squad players, but now you are facing the competition as the squad players. Let all of us be united and make a move to the championship."

After the warming-up exercise by trunk training and running, they started circuit training to improve agility. Then they had a series of sessions such as offence from side wings and defence also from side attacks. At the end of the day, they had a mini game.

Top two teams of the AFC U-16 Women’s Championship China 2015 will qualify for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup next year.

Players' Comments

FW #7  MIYAZAWA Hinata (Seisa Kokusai High School Shonan)
I have come to this camp with even stronger passion since I am now a squad player, not a short-listed player any more. I will keep this passion throughout the competition and we will get the victory and qualify for the World Cup. For this aim, I will keep working hard with all of my strength in the camp to get ready for the championship.

DF #16  KANEHIRA Risa (Hinomoto Gakuen Senior High School)
I’m more nervous than before since this is the camp as a squad player, not as a short-listed player. Throughout the 5 days of the camp, I want to get ready well to win the championship. We will get the victory to qualify for the World Cup. I want to prepare myself well to compete with responsibility and with a sense of pride.

DF #15  KANEKATSU Rio (Urawa Reds Ladies Youth)
Since this is the camp just before the championship, we focused on making consistent passes and set plays enough to compete well with foreign players. Even a small mistake can lead us to conceding a goal, so we want to be very careful even with very detailed things. In China, I want to be responsible for each of my plays and to play well; I don’t want to regret any of my play. Even though we will have challenges, we want to go through as a team and get the victory after all of our effort.

MF #17  KANNO Oto (Nippon TV Menina)
Today I played with even stronger awareness as a squad player. We practiced mainly to make stronger passes and crosses enough to compete well against Asian players. In the AFC Championship, even a small mistake and a small passing disconnection can decide the match, so in this camp I want to pay attention to details more than before. The environment in China can be unfamiliar for me, but I want to play with good condition as much as possible. We will be united as a team and get the victory in China.
