Futsal Japan National Team Candidates Training Camp Report (21st April)

22 April 2014

Futsal Japan National Team Candidates Training Camp Report (21st April)

Today the team had both a morning and afternoon sessions same as yesterday.

Players worked on skills involving the ball in the morning, starting from variety of shooting drills. In one drill, players were split into two groups and positioned both sides of the pitch. Each player from both groups started dribbling almost at the same time into the middle and fired shots, one aiming the upper half of the goal and the other trying to strike the lower. Another drill had players work on 1 on 1 against a GK as the GK tries to limit the angles and visions available for shots.
Afterword they engaged in scrimmaging, three sets of 10 minutes each. Each set had a specific theme, such as defence, set-pieces and counter-attacks, to let players make sure the team strategies.

The afternoon session had the circuit training, same as last two days. All the workout stations named as “the amusement park” that the team’s physical coach Muraoka set up for players, seemingly silenced all the players at first. But once the coach said to players “We don't do it for long. So just put the good work in for the AFC Championship.”, players also started to fire themselves up saying “Ok, let’s go!” “Yeah, bring it on!” and even some playful yells that got the mood lightened up. They seemed all ready for tackling tough workouts. After all sets were done, players celebrated and high-fived with each other, which certainly made observers believe this team is really coming together as one..

HOSHI Shota (Bardral Urayasu Futbol Sala)
We now got into the second half of this long camp. We worked with the ball in the morning, and we also had a lot of good talks with each other on plays. (Morioka) Kaoru came back to the team and now we have the full roster. Our intensity level has been up and good for the AFC Championship. Afternoon was the physical training. We fired up each other, I did, too, and we pushed ourselves hard. Little by little, we are getting ready for winning the championship mentally and physically. For the rest of the camp, we want to keep working with good mindset and take ourselves to the next level step by step.

MAEDONCHI Matias Hernan (Nagoya Oceans)
We have now only 10 more days before the AFC Championship. To win the title, we can’t afford to waste the time we have left. We have to keep focusing as a team. We did the drills with the ball in the morning and worked on our bodies in the afternoon. We still have many more things to do. I want to keep working never to leave any regret in the end.

MORIOKA Kaoru (Nagoya Oceans)
I am just happy to come back to the team. Today we worked on our endurance and could push ourselves really hard. But the part where I got injured didn’t bother me, so I am relieved. I am not in a perfect shape yet, but I want get back in shape without rushing too much. I will make sure I keep getting good practice for the rest of the camp and do my best to stay on the final roster.
