South America tour of Japan’s beach soccer team entered second day (15 Jan)

16 January 2015

South America tour of Japan’s beach soccer team entered second day (15 Jan)

The Japan Beach Soccer squad started off their training at eight o’clock in the morning on the second day of their camp. In almost 30 degrees Celsius weather even early in the morning, they worked on physical training. At the beginning of the practice session, their head coach told them to enhance not only understanding toward team tactics but also their fitness level in the camp. Players apparently looked weary in the training where they took turns at six stations by rotation using ladders and rubber tubes.

In the afternoon, the Japan squad went through a scrimmage as the head coach reviewed the tactics with the players at times along the way. After both the morning and the afternoon sessions, the players cooled down their body in the sea. While national teams in other categories usually take a cool-down period at a pool after getting back to hotel or use water in buckets for it, beach soccer teams can just jump into the sea along the practice site.

Players’ Comments

TERUKINA Shingo (SOL MAR PRAIA)
I’ve come to Brazil eight times for tours or training camps. Every time I come to Brazil, I have a great experience, so I want to learn a lot and grow again in this tour. To lead young players who came here for the first time, I will work hard on the following training.

ODA Hirofumi (TOKYO LEQUIOS BS)
The physical training in the morning was very hard, but I will stay with intense training and beef up myself. Because there are some matches against top teams set up in this tour, I’m really looking forward to it. As our head coach says, we will improve our physical side and skill side to get well-prepared for the AFC World Cup Qualifiers in March.
