JFA holds Respect Fair Play ceremony at Japan Beach Soccer Championship in Okayama

The JFA conducted the Respect Fair Play ceremony at the opening of the 9th Japan Beach Soccer Championship, which was held at Shibukawa Beach in Tamano, Okayama from 13 to 15 September. The ceremony was held as part of “JFA Respect Fair Play Days 2014 – for the World without Discrimination and Violence.” Itsumi Takaaki of the host city team swore “through the gratitude for playing beach soccer and the power of beach soccer, we will create the society where there is no discrimination and violence.” Then, all the players and the referees joined a photo session altogether to share their will for the creation of the world where there is no discrimination and violence.

Along with the tournament, the JFA held beach soccer referee workshop gathering referees from all over the nation. In the workshop, “the Respect Declaration” was also announced to express the will to fight against discrimination and violence.

Before matches started, all players, referees and tournament officials conducted “Beach Clean.” Because beach soccer is a sport played with bear feet, even a piece of shell causes an injury to players. “Beach Clean” is an activity to “respect” everyone and everything involved in beach soccer.
