Japan Women’s U-15 Selection training camp report (30 Sep)

01 October 2014

Japan Women’s U-15 Selection training camp report (30 Sep)

In the morning, U-15 women’s selection members worked on defence training under the theme “when you give up the ball, you get it back.” Based on the defence principle, getting the ball and getting the ball out, they emphasised “the mind-set of getting the ball.” And they repeatedly trained how to make a transition from getting the ball to attacking in scrimmage drills, 3v3 + 3v3 with goalkeepers and 6v6 with goalkeepers.

In the afternoon, after the U-15 girls watched the training match of Japan National Women’s U-18 team, they engaged in a possession training session. In the passing and control (triangle) drill, the young girls did well in terms of cooperating with each other but still left assignments to improve on passing and kicking quality and the accuracy difference of stronger foot and weaker foot.
When putting their focus on offence in a game, they tended to loosen their defensive mind and plays. Coaches emphasised the concept to improve the quality of offence based on making each defensive play, and told them to work thoroughly on it in the following training sessions.
The goalkeeper training also included “control and passing” drills and “passing and supporting” drills, requiring players for accurate, fast and strong passes as an offensive starting point.

In the night, a logical communication skill class was held for two hours. It was the first time for some of the players to take the class, so the class started after they reviewed the base concepts: the necessity of this program, the development of intelligence off the pitch, and the logical thinking all help players understand football and improve their self-decision-making.

As the class session moved on to Q-&-A game, essay writing and drawing analysis, more and more players were seen trying harder and trying more actively to speak out. After the class, one of the players said someone having the same opinion had a different way of thinking, another said she realised something that she’d never realised by herself until listening to someone’s opinions, the other player said she came to view things in a different way.
The session finished with words from Ms. Tanaka who has given lectures since the players were in the first grade of junior high school. “You think by yourself, speak out and convey it with your words. The communication begins with those. Then, you listen to opinions from various people to find out better ones. I hope you all will take advantage of what you learned and absorbed through the program in various forms and situations.

Comments

IWASHITA Kurumi (Tochigi Soccer Club Ladies, Tochigi)
(About the training session in the morning)
We worked on it under the theme that we get the ball deliberately and try to get the ball aggressively. I made a lot of mistakes but could aggressively challenge on my plays as speaking out with each other within the team.
I had a lot to learn in the different environment and atmosphere, and I’m happy to share those with my teammates.

MORINAKA Hina(Cerezo Osaka Sakai Ladies, Osaka)
(Watching the Japan National Women’s U-18 team’s game)
They touched the ball ahead of opponents, predicted by themselves to get the ball against men’s high school students who got more power and speed, and didn’t allow the higher-level team to play how they wanted to play. I’m impressed that all players played very quickly after getting the ball.
I’d like to make use of what I learned from the game in the future.

NAKATSUKA Saki(F.C.Cormo Ladies Azalea, Kagawa)
(About the training session in the afternoon)
Once my passes were slow or went wrong direction, they were robbed by the defence. I worked on the training as keeping it in mind to improve my passing quality.
On the defence side, I tried to deliberately get the ball as communicating aloud with my teammates. I could get the ball from opposing mistakes but couldn’t get it deliberately.
I will make deliberate efforts to get the ball in the training tomorrow.

HAYASHI Kaoru (OWLET FC U-15, Aichi)
(Taking the logical communication skill class)
It reminded me of the importance and difficulty of communication.
I think it’s quite necessary to simply and completely convey things or my thoughts to others right away in my future football life, and I will learn the communication skill as one of the techniques.
