JFL referees learn at Izumo workshop

A JFL workshop was carried out between 19 August and 21 August in Izumo, Shimane Prefecture. At the workshop, the participants joined the Izumo Cup in Izumo, officiating high-level contests of high school and J club youth teams during the days while they held discussions and lectures at night.

Comments of instructors

MAYUZUMI Toshiyuki, Chief instructor
We worked on themes on ''how to establish game plans,'' ''How to read a match'' and ''What to be careful about communicating.''
As the one last workshop for the first-year grade one officials, the participating referees worked on it with high enthusiasm.
We expect nothing but good performance out of them from now on.

TANIUCHI Koji, Class S instructor (Toyama Prefecture)
We were concerned about the weather, but fortunately we weren't affected by it at the game times, and we went to have the Izumo Cup under cooler and more comfortable circumstances than the previous years.
While our schedule was packed with the matches and lectures, every and each official showed that he was trying to voluntarily earn something and it wound up being a workshop that they got to be able to have dense communications with each other.
Also, in the group discussions, they got to discuss things by the groups in the darkness in order to feel the difficulties of conveying messages while they didn't know what kind of facial expressions whom they were talking to had, while they tried to create one specific thing with clay. By going through those activities, they got to find a lot of new things that are significant to be cautious in taking communications, and I think that it would up very inspiring four days for those referees.

KATO Masakazu, First class referee (Gunma Prefecture)
As this year's final workshop, we participated in the Izumo Cup.
We had strong teams from high school and J youth clubs, and most of the matches were very beneficial ones for us.
We got to see four matches in three days and it was a touch schedule, yet it was such as fulfilling workshop in the end. Meanwhile, one of our themes at this workshop was ''try to increase the volume of awareness'' and I would like to look back on how much I was able to do it and take advantage of it for my development.

HAMAMOTO Yusuke, First class referee (Osaka Prefecture)
At this workshop, we held discussions, mainly on how to establish game plans, what we would need to do to understand game flows and atmosphere of them.
As a part of it, we had a discussion shutting our eyes with eye masks on. I got to be more aware of trying to telling my message as well as obtaining information in it.
I was also aware of getting information and act based on it when I officiated matches. I've been to workshops, but I still feel like I need to learn more about understanding of situations and being aware of them.

ABE Masashige, First class referee (Saitama Prefecture)
It was such an important workshop for me to confirm my points to improve. I have my own themes like ''movements'' and ''managements'' and I was able to get to work on them with the themes in mind, reading what the players and teams were trying to do.
I have participated in so many workshops this year, and I feel that I have improved on my self analysis and attitudes toward improving my issues.
For me this is the biggest change and I felt that it was an important element to make further growths. I would like to have higher consciousness so I will be able to be aware of things and improve myself from now on.

NISHIMURA Mikiya, First class referee (Tottori Prefecture)
I think that I got to be able to increase my awareness level more through officiating in actual games, lectures and discussions. Now I would like to increase the awareness level so I can anticipate what's going to happened next and react to it properly. I would like to capitalize on what I've learned through the workshops so far and I got to think that I want to work on things even more enthusiastically.
