JFA 25th U-15 Japan Women's Football Championship to kick-off on 12 December

The JFA 25th U-15 Japan Women's Football Championship will kick-off on Saturday 12 December, as 32 regional representatives will gather to determine the national champion of the women’s U-15 category.

The tournament is held to develop football skills, promote women’s football and healthy growth of women’s football players at the junior high school category.

Urawa Red Diamonds Ladies Junior Youth (Saitama) holds the record for most tournament titles, including last year’s performance where they scored 10 goals while conceding zero in five matches, as they won their seventh overall title. The Urawa Ladies side will be entering the tournament as the second representative of the Kanto region.

Despite all the hype surrounding Urawa, Nojima Stella Kanagawa Sagamihara Avvenire (Kanagawa) will enter the tournament as the number one team of the Kanto region, after winning the JFA U-15 Women's Football League Kanto. Nojima Stella finished with an undefeated record of six wins and one draw at the highly competitive Kanto league, not to mention that they conceded zero goals while winning the league. The team has reached the semi-finals in the past four tournaments and they are seeking to make a deeper run this year.

Former champions, Kamimura Gakuen Junior High School (Kyushu1/Kagoshima), Nippon TV Tokyo Verdy Serias (Kanto3/Tokyo), JFA Academy Fukushima (Tokai1/Shizuoka), and Cerezo Osaka Sakai Academy (Kansai1/Osaka) are also forces to be reckoned with.

Also, junior high school teams such as Jumonji Junior High School (Kanto8/Tokyo) and Tokoha University Tachibana Junior High School (Tokai3/Shizuoka) will be seeking for their opportunity to win over Nadeshiko League clubs and academy teams.

This year’s final is scheduled to take place on/at the same day/venue with the Prince Takamado Trophy JFA 32nd U-15 Japan Football Championship final, on Monday 28 December at Ajinomoto Field Nishigaoka.
