U-16 International Dream Cup 2017 JAPAN presented by The Asahi Shimbun: Teams introduction (Netherlands, USA)

"U-16 International Dream Cup 2017 JAPAN presented by The Asahi Shimbun" will commence at the Yurtec Stadium Sendai in Miyagi Prefecture on Wednesday 14 June. Inaugurated in 2015, the coming tournament will mark its third year of competition and the U-16 National Teams of Japan, Guinea, Netherlands and United States will compete in a single round-robin format. Among the participating teams, we will introduce U-16 Netherlands National Team and U-16 USA National Team.

U-16 Netherlands National Team

Despite a population of 17 million, many star players have come from the Netherlands thanks to the high standard of their grassroots capabilities. This team also has many excellent players from the young-generation teams of big Dutch clubs, including Ajax, Feyenoord, and PSV Eindhoven.

Peter van der Veen Coach's Comment (U-16 Netherlands National Team)
I look forward to play this Dream Cup in Japan. I am very happy that Japan football association invite us for this tournament. I think for these young players a great experience to play against teams of 3 different continents. For their development, it is great to travel and play 3 big games in one week. Again thank you for all the work of JFA so far and hopefully a great tournament for all teams.

U-16 USA National Team

The top team have recently succeeded in showing off their strengths internationlly are to participate in seven consecutive World Cups and reaching the knockout stages four times. Their under-age category teams are also regulars in international championships, taking part in the U-17 World Cup as many times as Brazil.

Shaun Tsakiris Coach's Comment (U-16 USA National Team)
