U-17 Japan Women’s National Team hold practice session prior to playing China PR in the CFA International Women's Youth Football Tournament 2016 Weifang

On Wednesday 13 July, the morning after their first match in the tournament against Canada, the U-17 Japan Women’s National Team went for a walk and did some running in Weifang University, which was near their hotel. There was a relaxed atmosphere around.

In the afternoon, the team held their practice session under a clear sky. The players started with some passing and controlling, and moved onto set pieces, followed by shot practice. The players stayed vocal, while the coach KUSUNOSE Naoki encouraged them. They practiced hard in preparation for the coming game.

The team will face China PR, the host country, at 19:35 on Thursday 14 July local time.

Players' Comments

MF #13  KANNO Oto (NIPPON TV MENINA)
We didn’t play against China PR in the AFC U-16 Women's Championship 2015, but I know they are good at passing the ball around with swift players on the wings. So we’ll stay vocal to react to them, and improve on our problems from the game against Canada. I’d like to show off our playing style, overwhelming the opponent with our performance and stamina, not to mention getting a good result.

FW #16  UEKI Riko (NIPPON TV MENINA)
I look forward to playing tomorrow’s game, as we couldn’t play against China PR in the AFC U-16 Women's Championship 2015. We struggled against Canada. However, we played tenaciously to turn the game around. We’d like to continue doing so, showing off our style to win the game. Personally, I’d like to contribute to many goals.
