U-23 Japan Women’s National Team had practical training for the 1st match (3/1)

02 March 2016

U-23 Japan Women’s National Team had practical training for the 1st match (3/1)

U-23 Japan Women’s National Team had their second day training on 1 March. The team will be joining the La Manga International Women's U-23 Tournament.

Under the clear blue sky, their training started from an ice breaking session including ball lifting. They had sessions included 9-on-9 + a free man, and ball possession for 90 minutes.

In the afternoon, the team had more practical sessions to improve their direct offence, and defence to block the direct attack.

The competition will start tomorrow; Japan will play against U-23 Norway Women’s National team on 2 March and then they will face Sweden and then Germany. In each match, they have one day to get ready for the next one.

Players' Comments

TANAKA Mebae (Kanagawa University)
In the morning, we had offence training and we mainly concentrated on raising crosses, and in the afternoon we had another session for ball possession. I felt that I need to think more in detail such as each movement and pass. We are kicking off the matches from tomorrow, so I will do my best to contribute to the team.

SASAKI Mayu (VEGALTA SENDAI LADIES)
Today, we practiced our crosses, responding to space behind our defence line, and ball possession. For the possession training, I felt that we need to think very actively to assume what will happen next in terms of positioning and other plays. It is also necessary to read the opponents’ mind well and attack their blind spots. We have had only a few days since this team launched, but tomorrow we want to stick to the victory getting united well. I will get ready to contribute to the team.
