Futsal Japan National Team report on their successive victories at AFC Futsal Championship at opening match of F. League
29 June 2014
On 28 June, the Futsal Japan National Team told their fans that they had become back-to-back AFC Futsal champions and thanked them for their support at the Yoyogi National Stadium Yoyogi Gymnasiums 1, in which the first and second section matches of the F. League are currently held.
After Miguel Rodrigo, the head coach, entered the stadium with the players, the coach as well as Hoshi and Takita, the captains of the team, were welcomed with bouquets of flowers. Then the coach spoke to the crowd in fluent Japanese: ‘the victory is not only thanks to the national team, but to all the futsal family, who are here today. I present this championship cup to you all.’
Hoshi thanked the crowd: ‘we won because we had a lot of supporters. You gave us massive encouragement and I do appreciate that. Now our aim is to get a good result in the 2016 FIFA Futsal World Cup and we would be really grateful for more support.’ Takita also noted: ‘our biggest stage will be the 2016 AFC Futsal Championship and the 2016 FIFA Futsal World Cup. We need to get stronger through the F. League in order to have a good result in those big tournaments. Please find your favorite team and lets give the F-league a boost together.’ He asked the fans to support the F. League, where the national team players play in the course of their day-to-day activities, with one eye on the FIFA Futsal World Cup in two years.
