U-17 Japan Women’s National Team set off in USA

U-17 Japan Women’s National Team set off in USA

U-17 Japan Women’s National Team initiated their activity to take part in a tournament in Los Angeles where the USA, England, Korea Republic and Japan play against each other.

The team will also participate in the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup to be held in Jordan in September 2016.

After leaving Japan at 5 p.m. on 7 February Japan time and enduring the 9.5-hour-long flight, the squad arrived in Los Angeles at 10 a.m. on 7 February local time.

The young girls started their training session at 3 p.m. and worked up a good sweat with light jogging and stretching to remove fatigue from the long trip. As five of the players were called up for the first time, they tried to deepen their level of communication with a bit long ice-breaking activities.

At the end, the squad capped training of the day with three reps of 1,000 meter runs to tune up their condition.

Players' Comments

GK #1  KOGURE Chiaki (Maebashi Ikuei High School)
I learned a lot at the last AFC U-16 Women’s Championship and got called up for this U.S. trip again. I’ve got a lot of things to improve and especially felt like improving individual skills and running ability. In this three-match (per team) tournament, I would like to fully play as many matches as possible and contribute to team's win for the title. I will work hard not only on the pitch but off the pitch.

FW #8  MIYAZAWA Hinata (Seisa Kokusai High School Shonan)
We travelled to get here today, so we had training to get ourselves in shape. As communicating with my teammates, we enjoyed it in a good atmosphere. Starting from tomorrow, our training will be for the following matches. We will gear up for them. And we will making each match productive and go for the title.

FW #9  UEKI Riko (Nippon TV Menina)
Because a lot of players were called up for the first time, we had training that allowed us to easily communicate with each other. Because of the time difference, we have technically been spending more than 24 hours on 7 February and some of the players have trouble with jet lag, but we will try to come out for the opening match against Korea Republic in perfect form. I want to communicate with a lot of players as well.
