Prince Takamado Trophy All Japan Youth (U-15) Football Tournament finally gets to start

Prince Takamado Trophy All Japan Youth (U-15) Football Tournament opened games heated among teams over the country at venues in Ibaraki pref. on Saturday, December 20.

Pickup Match 1

Aomori Yamada Junior High School (Tohoku1/Aomori)  1-2 (1st 1-0, 2nd 0-2)  SQUARE Toyama FC U-15 (Hokushinetsu 3 /Toyama)

The opening game at Ksdenki Stadium Mito was held between Aomori Yamada Junior High School (Tohoku 1 / Aomori) and SQUARE Toyama FC U-15 (Hokushinetsu 3 / Toyama). Aomori Yamada got off to a good start and took a momentum at the beginning of the game. In the 14th minute, DANZAKI Riku gaining a loose ball in the high position dribbled it toward the front of an opposition goal and scored the first point for the team. The encouraged team also created a chance with fast attack in the 30th minute, failing to add another score because TAKAHASHI Rei shot a ball directly toward the GK.

On the other hand, at half-time, Toyama, though it allowed the opponent to lead, reconfirmed its “Crisis Management” when possessing a ball. It consciously passed a ball precisely, because the team was easily taken a ball by Aomori Yamada with its fast attack when it tried to bring a ball forward blindly. Toyama, at the second half, played its football in the high line for longer time than the opponent which slightly lost a momentum. In the 64th minute, KANAKI Ryo successfully converted a penalty kick, which was brought by the opponent’s foul when he dribbled a ball, to tie the score. Toyama kept increasing its momentum and KANAKI Ryo made a right-foot shot of a loose ball of FK to mark his second point of the day in the 74th minute. After turning a match at 2-1, Toyama steadily secured its lead to win a victory over Aomori Yamada and advance to the second round.

Pickup Match 2

Honda FC (Tokai3/Shizuoka)   2-2 (1st 1-0, 2nd 1-2, Extra 1st 0-0, Extra 2nd 0-0, penalty shootout 2-4)  Cerezo Osaka West (Kansai 5 / Osaka)

The second game between Honda FC (Tokai 3/Shizuoka) and Cerezo Osaka West (Kansai 5/Osaka) held at Ksdenki Stadium Mito Supplementary Field was close match that was impossible to predict which team would win until the very end.

In the beginning, C Osaka West made chances by concentrating a ball to FW NAGANO Yujiro, but Honda’s persistent defensive line didn’t allow the opponent to make a goal. Each player of Honda gradually began to show its high skill and HARADA Shota headed a FK from the left side of the opponent’s field to score an opening goal.

Honda allowed the opponent, which seized a momentary chance, to equalize the game 1-1, but regain a lead by adding another score by MABUCHI Haruki who put a loose ball of CK into a goal net. Meanwhile, C Osaka West, mainly based on GK OHARA Asahi, responded well to Honda which attacked aggressively for gaining additional scores. The team solidly defended the front area of its goal and not allowed to add another score even after its defensive line on each side were broken through. In the 78th minute, when the gap of the score was just one point, NAGANO of the C Osaka West put a pass received from KURIYAMA Riku into the goal net by his left foot, marking his second score of the day to equalize the game. The game wasn’t settled even in the extra time, entering into the penalty shootout. While 2 kickers of Honda failed, all 4 of C Osaka made it successfully to reach the second round with the win over the tough opening game.

Comments of Head Coaches and Players

UEDA Daiki, Head Coach (Aomori Yamada Junior High School)
My team was stiff in a performance as a whole. However, as we gained an opening score and kept a lead even under such mood, players were getting misunderstood that “we could keep play in this way to win the game” from the mid of the first half. They stopped running and were much slower in speed to take a ball from the opponent than usual. I tried to reorganize the team from the second half by saying “we would surely allow the opponent to turn a game if we keep play style like this” to shake the team up at half-time, but we could not show our football in our own way until the very end. I was really frustrated.

KANAKI Ryo (SQUARE Toyama FC U-15)
I am sure that we will be get confident through the victory over the strong team, Aomori Yamada. Though we couldn’t start the game in a favorable manner, we successfully recovered our composure after the mid of the game. It may be good for us to talk with each other within a team not to rush into forward and make a good rhythm by passing a ball to score, even after allowing a lead. Personally, I was delighted to make two goals. I thought my strong feeling to seek a goal at any cost made me make goals actually.

OKUBO, Head Coach (Honda FC)
As we had never experienced the game in the national tournament by today, we could learn my team’s position in an objective manner through this tournament. The result of the game is important, of course, but things like taking right processes, being thoughtful for team-mates as well as appealing its advantages are also essential, I believe. Seeing my players played freely today, I recognized “what we worked on so far is not all together false”.

NAGANO Yujiro (Cerezo Osaka West U-15)
The game was the tough one to test my patience as FW, because the opponent took long time to attack. I consciously played not to miss any little chances, trying to find a space to put myself in when I faced to the opponent without a ball. Even after scoring two points, I really wanted to make one more goal in the extra time. However, I feel secured because my team gained the victory. We have never beaten C Osaka U-15 (, the opponent in the second round match,) and I hope to make a goal for the team to win a victory over the next game.
