Vermont Cup All Japan U-12 Futsal Championship kick off on 14 August

Vermont Cup All Japan U-12 Futsal Championship will kick off on 14 August. Prior to the beginning of the championship, this article reviews last year’s matches. It was held in both Komazawa Olympic Park Gymnasium and Ota-City General Gymnasium, Tokyo from 4 to 6 January, 2015. 

After exciting matches throughout the 3 days of the competition, Kashima Antlers Tsukuba Junior (Ibaraki) and Kounan-Minami Boys Soccer Club (Saitama) played each other in the final. Kashima got the victory for the first time.

48 teams from all over Japan played at the previous Championship. For this championship there were about 3,500 local teams that played in the regional competitions, and Hokkaido had the highest number of teams for this qualifier. 

The 48 teams were divided into 12 groups of 4 teams for the first round, and then the 4 top teams from the first round were chosen for the further final tournament. 

On the first day, Kashima showed its outstanding strength and got two-digit goals in 2 consecutive matches. Meanwhile, Oita Trinita Junior (Oita) ’s HIRAKAWA Kento scored 7 goals in the first match; he became the key force to get the 2 consecutive victories of the first group stage. On the second day, final matches of the group stage and the knock out final round of 16 were held. After the intensive matches, 8 teams were selected to go through to the quarterfinals. 

The last day of the championship started with the quarterfinals. The former champion Kounan-Minami Boys Soccer Club lost 2 goals at first against Brincer FC (Aichi), but eventually they came from behind and won 5-2.

Tamiya Victory Soccer Shonendan (Tokushima) and Kashima came from behind to beat Pivo (Shizuoka) and moved through to the semi finals. Meanwhile Fun Academy (Tokyo) beat Tama-ku FC U-12 (Kanagawa) 4-2 to get to the semi finals. 

In the semifinals, Kounan-Minami faced Tamiya Voctory. The scoring was even at 4-4 until the middle of the match, but after Kounan-Minami scored the 5th goal, they added 4 more goals to decide the match and it finished 9-4. On the other hand, Kashima’s MAEDA Sora scored 5 goals in the first 8 minutes and overwhelmed Fun Academy. Kashima moved on to the final 8-0.

Kashima, who had made goal rush in the previous matches kept its strength in the final. After the opener, Maeda achieved hat trick in the first 6 minutes and lead the match 4-0.

However, Kounan-Minami got 2 goals back in the 1st half. They tried to score another and went behind Kashima by only one goal, but Kashima added another 2 goals which included Maeda’s 4th goal. Kashima got the victory of this championship for the first time with the score of 6-3.

Best Player Award was given to Maeda, SASANUMA Koki from Kashima, TSUKUI Takumi from Kounan Minami, KITAJIMA Riku from Tama FC U-12, OMORI Ryo from BRINCAR FC. Fair Play Award was given to Fun Academy.
