Players kept a high level of focus and worked hard. By getting this win, we made a history for our club. This is great. Speaking of this game, a draw was good enough for them, so they were very defensive. Our players patiently kept creating chances and kept attacking their goal.
There were some missed opportunities. In a situation like that we tend to push too much, start losing our focus and end up getting our heads down after missing shots. But our players kept the composure and kept creating chances.
By winning this match, we go on to a new step as a club. I am happy that many supporters came to this match and we could share this win with them. I just want to thank them for that.
PHILIP Moss , head coach, CENTRAL COAST MARINERS
First, I would like to congratulate Sanfrecce Hiroshima with all our hearts. Not just winning today, but also advancing to the knock-out stage as the second in this group is very good for them.
We played well, too, throughout this game. Especially our defence fought hard. We would have advanced even with a draw, but we were trying to win this game. But Hiroshima was better than us at keeping and controlling the ball.
I think we did keep our ball, too, when we really needed to, more than we expected. But it wasn't enough to win.
But I think we played well against the two-time J-League champion that have more money and good players than we do. We will go home proud.
