Japan Beach Soccer National Team squad Brazil trip report (3/22)

23 March 2016

Japan Beach Soccer National Team squad Brazil trip report (3/22)

The fifth day of the Japan Beach Soccer National Team’s Brazil trip saw two practice sessions, one in the morning and the other in the afternoon just like the day before.

So far, the players had focused on physical exercises in the morning and worked on tactics in the afternoon, but they spent a lot of time in strategic training from the morning on that day. Although the amount of physical pressure was the same as the day before, they practiced numerous higher-level movements, including how to attack depending on different systems.

In the afternoon, the team went through the team’s rules and group combinations by practicing kick-offs and corner kicks in preparation for the game against Flamengo.

Many matches against strong teams are scheduled during the latter half of this tour, which starts tomorrow. The team hopes to have good performances, as well as results, considering the coming Asian Beach Games this year.

Players' Comments

SAITO Masaki (Vamos a la Casa)
First of all, I appreciate my school, for which I work, happily giving me the time off as well as all the staff including from the JFA in supporting this tour. As it’s my first Brazil tour, I’m just so pleased that I can play in this excellent environment and I’m very proud that I play for the national team. It’s great to be here with talented teammates and staff.

We had the fifth day of the tour today. I’d like to practice more, so that I can bring in the game what the coach and the goalkeeping coach Paulo want us to do, especially in the final match against Brazil. I’d also like to show off my strength, such as wide coverage in defence with my height.

GOTO Masato (Dorsole Kitakyushu)
As it was my first attendance at the national team since Marcelo became the coach, I came to Brazil with a really positive feeling. The environment in Brazil is perfect, and I’m convinced that I can improve my level as a beach soccer player here under the instruction of the goalkeeper coach Paulo. So I’m practicing hard. I’d like to understand how to play in the national team, contributing to the team to earn a victory against Brazil.
