JFA 10th U-15 Japan Women's Futsal Championship to kick-off on 12 January

The JFA 10th U-15 Japan Women's Futsal Championship will take place at Mie Prefectural Sun Arena on Sunday 12 and Monday 13 January.

At the tournament, nine regional qualifiers will compete to claim the futsal national title of the U-15 category. The first round will take place on Sunday, where the nine teams will be divided into three groups to play in a round robin group league. Group leaders will be joined by the top finisher among the runners-up at the final round which will take place on Monday.

The pilot version of this tournament took place in 2010, where Club Fields Linda claimed the title. In the following year, FC Effronte was named as the inaugural champions of the U-15 Japan Women's Futsal Championship. In 2012, at the second edition of the tournament, Fukui Maruoka RUCK (Maruoka RUCK Ladies at the time) won their first title, one of five titles won by the Fukui side in the past eight years.

Fixtures for the first round have been determined as the defending champions Fukui Maruoka RUCK (Hokushinetsu/Fukui) was grouped in Group A along with Jumonji Junior High School (Kanto/Tokyo), Fujieda Junshin SC Junior Youth (Tokai/Shizuoka), two of the top football teams in the nation.

In Group B, a football team established in 2015, Catiolla Ladies (Kyushu/Oita) was grouped with last year’s semi-finalist Seagull Hiroshima Ladies (Chugoku/Hiroshima), and semi-finalist from two years ago Tokushima Lateesha (Shikoku/Tokushima).

Group C features three teams who made their first appearance at this tournament, as Tokachi FS Little Girls U-15 (Hokkaido) and FC Bloom Fukushima (Tohoku/Fukushima) are joined by Pazduro (Kansai/Osaka), who is led by Deaf Futsal Japan National Team coach KAWAMOTO Takeshi.

Many players of the U-18 Japan Women's Futsal National Team and the Japan Women's Futsal National Team have played at this tournament. It will be interesting to see who will be crowned as champions in this heated competition.
