U-16 Japan Women's National Team holds training sessions ahead of final match at the Netherlands

Following their international friendly match against the U-16 Netherlands Women's National Team on Wednesday 26 June, the U-16 Japan Women's National Team trained ahead of their final training match scheduled on Saturday 29.

On Thursday 27, the team held a meeting to go over their match against the U-16 Netherlands Women's National Team, before entering their training session. On this day, the team also paid a visit to Johan Cruijff Arena, the largest stadium in the Netherlands, to learn about the history of Dutch football and the home club of this arena, AFC Ajax.

In the morning of Friday 28, the team conducted a training session with high intensity to work on the areas they lacked in the match against the U-16 Netherlands Women's National Team. The team went onto hold another session in the afternoon, as they prepared ahead of the upcoming match, as well as the AFC U-16 Women's Championship scheduled in September. Despite the intense training menu, the players looked relaxed, showing no signs of fatigue as they actively went through the trainings.

As their final training match of this Netherlands tour, the U-16 Japan Women's National Team will face the local club, DZC'68, on Saturday 29 June.

Players' Comments

GK NISHIKAWA Kana (Tokiwagi Gakuen High School)
Although it was my first time playing with many of these players, I was able to blend into the team very easily. This is a very different team compared to my high school team, but with everyone staying vocal to support each other, I am able to showcase my usual performance with this team. I will commit myself to make plays that will help the team win while showcasing my best possible performance in our final match.

DF HAZEKAWA Yuna (Seiwa Gakuen High School)
Following our match against the U-16 Netherlands Women’s National Team, we entered today’s training session with the intention to heighten the quality of our passes. It was very difficult to execute accurate passes while we played with high intensity. In tomorrow’s match, I will focus on winning the one-on-one duels and deliver accurate passes in order to help the team win the match. I will also give my best to apply aggressive pressure towards the opponents and send quality crosses to create opportunities.

MF OIKAWA Sae (Hokkaido Bunkyo University Meisei High School)
With this being my first call-up to the team, I entered this tour with the intention to actively communicate with my peers and get myself comfortable with the team. Also, I have been giving my best efforts to showcase my usual performance at the training sessions. The matches against foreign players allows us to experience a unique opportunity to face extraordinary speed and power, which is something we don’t normally see in Japan. It was also hard to adjust to the new environment we were surrounded by. Tomorrow’s match will be our final match in this tour, so we hope to unite as one and finish this tour on a high note. In order to pay back to everyone who has supported me, I personally would like to earn positive results in tomorrow’s match as well.
