KIRIN CHALLENGE CUP 2018 Ghana National Team arrives to Japan

On Monday 28 May, the Ghana National Team arrived in Japan ahead of the KIRIN CHALLENGE CUP 2018 match against SAMURAI BLUE (Japan National Team). The match will be held at Nissan Stadium on Wednesday 30 May.

The team arrived at Mitsuzawa Athletic Stadium to hold a training session shortly after stopping by their hotel.

Coach and Player’s Comment

James APPIAH, Coach (Ghana National Team)
We are very glad to be given such wonderful opportunity. This will be our first national team match since our match against Egypt last November. We have struggled to call up players consistently, including those who are playing for clubs in Europe. It is also regretful that we could not bring some of our players due to injury as well. Ahead of this international match, some of the players found it difficult to maintain their conditions since their season ended early. Including those who are injured, we must condition ourselves not only through fitness training, but through the football match itself in order to heighten our performance. It will be a difficult match for us, but we are looking forward to play against Japan.

MF Thomas PARTEY (Atletico Madrid/Spain)
Japan is a team who can play good football, so we must prepare well and give all we’ve got in the match. Despite it being a friendly match, it is important to go all out and win the match. The weather in Japan is not too hot nor is it too cold, so we are not worried about it. The team should be able to adjust to this weather and there should be no effect on our performance. We are looking forward for the match.
