Haiti national team start training in Yokohama prior to 2017 KIRIN CHALLENGE CUP 2017

Haiti National Team, who will play against SAMURAI BLUE (Japan National Team) at Nissan Stadium in Kanagawa on Tuesday 10 October in the 2017 KIRIN CHALLENGE CUP 2017, arrived in Japan to hold training sessions in Yokohama.

All the players, who are currently playing in different countries, came to Japan and attended a practice session on Sunday 8 October.

Coach's and Players' Comments

Marc COLLAT, Coach (Haiti National Team)
I have the impression that the Japanese are very polite and respect each other. As for their national team, they consist of extremely fast players, who play compactly. I know especially well about Sakai, who plays for Olympique de Marseille. Our team has many young and enthusiastic players. Despite their possible lack of experience, we need to learn from this experience in order to book a ticket in the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Although the players are struggling with the time difference, I believe that our young players will recover through training sessions, getting themselves in good condition for the coming game.

GK #1 Johny PLACIDE (Oldham Athletic/England)
I know the players based in Europe very well. Especially, I do remember Sakai, since I have played against him. I’d like to get myself in better condition prior to the match.

MF #8 Zachary HERIVAUX (New England Revolution/USA)
I have the impression that Japanese defend solidly. Haiti are physically strong and cooperate well as a united team. Personally, I have been looking forward to playing against Japan, but I do feel it’s surreal. Although I’ll feel nervous to meet Japan, I’d like to contribute to the team once I’m on the pitch.
