Players' Comments

KATO Ryuma (BARDRAL URAYASU)
We started the game well, initiating attacks to score from strong defence. However, we became less careful after scoring goals, and made more careless mistakes under pressure from the opponent. We must avoid any schoolboy errors in passing and controlling in international matches, including in Asia. Now we can see clearly our strengths and problems after these two training matches. I’d like to improve the quality of the team prior to the coming the AFC Futsal Championship next year.

UEMATSU Koto (SHONAN BELLMARE)
We scored four goals in the first half, taking the initiative. However, the opponent levelled the game at the end. Even though it was a short period of time, I learned the importance of staying patient during the struggle on the pitch. I’ll practice hard everyday, so that I can bring in to games what I learned today.

SATO Toru (SHRIKER OSAKA)
I played today’s match as though it had been the semi-final match of the AFC Futsal Championship in February. We intercepted the ball to counter-attack and passed rhythmically to take shots, which were all good achievements. However, there were some problems to be improved – to control the game when we’re in lead, and how to avoid an opponent’s strong pressure from up front.

I think we have to be able to win a match against a team at this level every single time, if we, as the national team, think of becoming back-to-back champions and aim at the World Cup. I’d like to stay focused to practice hard back in my club team, so that I can join the national team again to contribute the team’s victory.

WATANABE Tomoaki (DALIAN YUANCHAO/China)
As we struck a goal early on in the first half, we controlled the game well at the beginning. However, our performance level dropped after the score reached 4-1. Building up a lead encouraged the opponent to play aggressively, and we could not decide the match.

As a result, the opponent levelled the game in the second half, and the game ended in a draw. Having said that, we had some achievements. I believe that playing two matches against one of the top teams in Asia gave us some experience for the future. I’ll practice hard to raise our level, bearing in mind we’ll play against strong teams, such as Uzbekistan, in the AFC Futsal Championship.
