Match Report

The last game of the first three game series was against Magna Navarra of Spain's Division 1 league.

The team left Segovia in the morning for Navarra by bus. They arrived in early evening and rushed to the game venue.

The kick-off time was 9:15 pm. From the beginning both teams played aggressively at both ends of the pitch, but neither could score a goal. The first half finished with a scoreless tie.

That continued in the second half until the 30th minute when Japan allowed Navarra to score from a kick-in.

Japan started exercising powerplay in the last two minutes of the regulation. Hoshi, Osodo and Nibuya all created big chances, but Navarro's goalkeeper and even the goal post kept Japan from tying the game to the end of the game..

The Spain trip has finished its halfway with 2 wins and a loss for Japan. Players will keep working for the second set of three games later in this trip.

Head Coanch & Players' comments

Head Coach : Miguel Rodrigo
It was a very good game at both ends. Our powerplay was just in the last two minutes of the game, but we could do what we wanted. The shots just didn't go in. Considering they are in division 1, it was good that all of our players played with good focus. Just one thing that didn't work out was our shots. We looked for good shots too much, thinking too much that it has to go in. We have to shoot it more aggressively because even a missed shot will lead to another chance. Our defence was perfect. Just our shots need improvement. We will keep working on it for the next three games.

Sato Toru (Umacon Zaragoza)
We lost the game in the end, but they are a playoff team in Spanish Division 1 with some national team players. Against such a club our defence worked well throughout the game. Our defence has been a focal point of this trip. So it was a positive result. But the set-piece made a difference between win and loss. I thought they are very experienced because they didn't miss the opportunity to attack and score. We still have three more games against division 1 clubs. I will keep working hard to get good results both for myself and as a team.

Yoshikawa Tomoki (Nagoya Oceans)
We played well as a team today, but it's very disappointing that we lost in the end. Our offence could handle their quick pressure, and our diffence worked. We still have three more games left. We will work on the things we didn't do well in last three games and keep working hard as a team to finish games with wins.

Osodo Nobuya (Vasagey Oita)
The way they moved the ball and the way they ran the pitch were very good. But this was the third game in Spain, we got used to their pressure defence a little and we could play how we wanted to play. We want to take advantage of this opportunity to play against such a good club. We have to keep doing what we did well and correct our mistakes to play well again in the next game.
