General: 1,000 yen (800 yen)
Note:
- The price stated in ( ) is for pre-sale only. When you buy a ticket via Ticket Pia or convenient stores, the handling fees of 108 yen is applied. For telephone or internet purchase, the system usage charge is added to the handling fee above.
- High school students or younger are free of charge with valid student ID for matches from the first round to the semi-finals. (The admission of the final is determined separately.)
- Play-off matches are free of charge.

Eligibility

A team shall consist of players from a single university registered for the Japan Football Association and Japan University Football Association and players on a team shall be qualified by the following provisions.

  • (1) A team shall complete the registration for the Japan Football Association and the Japan University Football Association in the relevant year and shall complete the yearly payment to the associations.
  • (2) When a team includes players of foreign nationality, the number of such registrants for the tournament shall be up to five out of all the 30 players. The same principle is also applied to the number of such players to be registered for and play a match.
  • (3) A player shall be registered for the Japan Football Association and Japan University Football Association. The players must have his ID with him.
  • (4) If the player’s eligibility is in question, the Japan University Football Association discusses the matter with the Japan Football Association.

Selection of Participating Teams

  • (1) The following numbers of teams from each region, the total of 24 teams, will be selected by each regional University Football Association:
    a) Hokkaido: 1, b) Tohoku: 1, c) Kanto: 5,
    d) Tokai: 3, e) Hokushinetsu: 1, f) Kansai: 4,
    g) Chugoku: 1, h) Shikoku: 1, i) Kyushu: 3
    j) Play-off: 3 (Winner between Hokkaido vs Tohoku, winner between Kanto vs Hokushinetsu, and winner between Chugoku and Shikoku)
    k) Winner of the Prime Minister Cup
  • (2) Each regional University Football Association will determine the participating teams in accordance with the standings table of the each regional football league.

Tournament System

  • (1) 24 teams, selected based on the provisions above, play the knockout contests, and the top team, runners-up and two third-placed teams will be determined without a third-placed match.
  • (2) a) Play-off, Quarter-finals and Semi-finals
    • The match duration is 90 minutes. If the result stands as a draw in 90 minutes, extra time of two 10-minute periods is played. If the two teams are still equal after the extra time, the winners are determined by the penalty shootouts.
    • b) Final
      The match duration is 90 minutes. If the result stands as a draw in 90 minutes, extra time of two 15-minute periods is played. If the two teams are still equal after the extra time, the both teams are recognised as the champions.
      The start time of the second half is set at an hour after the start of the match. If the start of the match is delayed and the total of the delayed time and the additional time of the first half exceeds six minutes, the start time of the second half will be delayed for the minutes calculated by subtracting five minutes from that total delay time.
  • Note: Play-off matches are played between teams of the designated ranking from each region.
  • The match site is to be changed biyearly.
  • (3) The match regulation is as per the competition regulation from the Laws of the Game by the Japan Football Association of the relevant year.
    With regard to substitution, three substitutions are allowed in a match from the maximum of seven registered players.
  • (4) A player who is ejected off the field by the referee is suspended for at least one following match in the competition. The Disciplinary and Fair Play Committee (stated separately) shall determine any subsequent sanction during the tournament. The Japan Football Association shall determine the subsequent sanction after the tournament.
    As the tournament and the regional qualifiers are considered as the same competition under the disciplinary regulation, the pending suspension at the end of the regional qualifiers is to be carried forward to the tournament.
  • (5) After a player receives the second yellow card of the tournament, he shall be banned from the following match

Awards

  • (1) The champions team will be awarded the championship trophy and retain it until the next championship.
  • (2) The champions, runners-up and two third-placed teams will be awarded a certificate and 18 medals.
  • (3) The champions, runners-up and two third-placed teams will be awarded a plaque donated by Asahi Shimbun.
  • (4) The champions, runners-up and two third-placed teams will be awarded a trophy donated by TV Asahi Corporation.
  • (5) The champions, runners-up and two third-placed teams will be awarded a plaque donated by Nikkan Sports.
  • (6) The Fair Play Award, consisting of a certificate and supplementary prize, will be awarded to the selected team.
  • (7) The “Most Valuable Player” and “Best Eleven” will be selected and recognised.
