Match Report

After two losses that forced Japan to leave the group stage without advancing, they faced Guatemala, which were also eliminated from the tournament. The two teams striving to go home with a victory battled out with each other.
Before the match, Ambassador of Japan to the State of Kuwait Tsujihara Toshihiro made a visit to the locker room and gave a word of encouragement.

While Japan had not score any goal in the last two matches, Hatayama netted a returned pass from Hoshi in the 14th minute to give his side the first goal of the tournament. In the 17th minute, Takida smashed a loose ball out of a set-piece into the net to make it 2-0, and the score remained the same until the interval.

Japan, trying to keep their momentum of the first half, Minamoto scored a solo goal just after the second half began. In the 30th minute, Murota sprinted up the pitch in a counter-attack and tipped the ball over the goalkeeper for an amazing goal. After that Hatayama scored his second of goal of the match and Osodo’s goal helped Japan cruise past Guatemala for a 6-0 rout.
Japan National Futsal Team ended their Continental Cup tourney with one win and two losses, sitting at the third place in their group.

Comments

Miguel RODRIGO, Head Coach
That was a fantastic game. We played the game as good as we did in the first half of the Czech game yesterday, but what made the difference was the finishing accuracy in front of the goal. By turning the chances we got into goals, we could keep up our motivation and played out the game. Our defensive pressing was very effective and our attacking end kept the possession high by coping with the opposing defence at centre so that we could get goals with prompt counter attacks when we had a chance. I’m pretty much satisfied with young players’ performance and our group’s mood.

HATAKEYAMA Bruno Takashi (Kuwait SC/Kuwait)
We were out of the group stage, but I’m satisfied with the result of today’s game. We could play our good game yesterday as well, but the difference between yesterday and today was the fact we scored today. Individually, I’m happy to get two goals on the national team, and on top of it, I’m really happy for the win. I appreciate that I was given a chance to play on the national team in this tournament, where lots of strong teams take part in. I believed in the power of Japan National Team, and I had a confidence to get through the group stage. Anyway, I accept the result and turn it to a lesson for my future.

MORI Shuta(Shriker Osaka)
Unlike yesterday, we could put shots into the net today. The number of chances we created in the first half was not different from yesterday. The two goals in the first half could lead us to the win. As an individual, I was sent on in the last five minutes, but I could play well with the flow of the game. Of course, that’s because my teammates already made a big lead and opponents were tired、but that could be also because I kept my concentration to be ready whenever I’m called on. I had some spell that I couldn’t play much when I was on Nagoya Oceans, and that experience paid off today. Because I’ve experienced such period, I’m here now. Today was my debut on the national team. If I experience more games, I’m sure I can grow more.

MUROTA Yuki (Espolada Hokkaido)
We were already eliminated from the tournament, but the game was where we all showed our motivation for a win. I’m happy to get my first goal on the national team and I’m relieved that we could get a win. We are out of the group stage of the Continental Cup, but this bitter experience drives me to further work hard after going back to Japan.
