Match Report

The 2014 Futsal Continental Cup in Kuwait has kicked off and a total of four matches were played on the first day on Thursday.
Japan appeared in the fourth contest against Brazil.
Early in the game, both sides seemed stiff and didn’t have much momentum, but on sixth minute, Brazil struck first. Japan weren’t able to score yet created some opportunities while they held the opponents to the sole goal, keeping their hopes for the second half.

In the latter half, Japan gradually grabbed their own rhythm around set plays, but Brazil was solid at key occasions and Japan couldn’t net one. In the meantime, Japan allowed three consecutive goals within five minutes, on 25th, 29th and 29th. Japan tried to rally with a power play, but gave up another on 33rd, and wound up losing 0-5 in their opening match.

Comments

HOSHI Shota (Bardral Urayasu Futbol Sala)
The result of the game was very tough for us. By playing against Brazil, I think that what we can do, what we can’t do, what we have to do and what we shouldn’t do have become clearer and our issues have become more obvious. Because we lost, we will have to perform to what we felt in today’s game in our next one against the Czech Republic. We shouldn’t forget that what the national team is asked are always results and will enter tomorrow’s game with that in mind.

MINAMOTO Akira (Fuchu Athletic F.C.)
We took a complete loss today. As for the goals allowed, most of them were made after mistakes you must not make at this level. But other than them, there were scenes that Kawahara stopped but we could’ve given up more nevertheless. Our game was working when we could go pressing up front, so it will be depending on how much longer and how many more times we’ll be able to do this. Offensively, we had hard times putting up our own game and possessing the ball. Our distances with the opponents weren’t very good and we struggled having proper combinations. Yet when we had the right distances, we were just fine. When you have opponents who come at you putting pressure absolutely have some weaknesses. I feel that we have to be on the same page so we can capitalize on those. But you can’t have your best plays all the time. I reassured that it is quite important to buy some time by oneself when you are not playing well. And it’s frustrating to have known that I didn’t have it against Brazil. I want to definitely play against Brazil again, so we want to win the remaining two games by any means.

MIYAZAKI Satoshi (Fugador Sumida)
This was my first national team game, plus it was against Brazil, so I felt I wasn’t composed as I should have been before the game. Usually I’m not the type of a guy who gets nervous, so I thought that it was the national team thing. But because everybody around me talked to me, I think I was focusing on the game by the time it began. In terms of the contents of the game, I wasn’t able to keep up with the speed, techniques and physical strengths that I couldn’t experience in Japan, so I felt the gap with the world. But this is a tournament and we keep playing tomorrow and the day after. If we advance to the final, we’d have a chance to face Brazil again. I want to play every game importantly, taking advantage of the experience that I got today for our games after tomorrow.
