Nadeshiko Japan work on eliminating problems in game-style practice

Nadeshiko Japan entered their third day since their arrival in Canada and held a practice in Vancouver on 3 June (Wednesday), preparing for their first group stage match in the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup against Switzerland.

Nadeshiko closed the first 15 minutes of practice to the media, going through game-style training in order to resolve the issues that they came up through the two international friendlies in May. The clouds that hung in the sky when they arrived at the practice site went away and it raised the temperature by the time the two-hour training was about to end.

“We worked on trying to attack the goal with the entire squad paying attention to taking shots. No matter who we play along with, we want to make our teammates more effective,” Nadeshiko captain MIYAMA Aya said after the practice.KAWASUMI Nahomi followed: “Towards our first game, we are in a phase to have better preparation.”

Players' comments

DF #5   SAMESHIMA Aya (INAC Kobe)
(On having trained on artificial turfs in Canada) Because the turfs are different from those at the game sites, I can't say things for sure. We worked on the training to try to improve the issues we had through the two games in Japan today. No matter what position I will play at, I want to play with the mind-set of taking shots, and if I get the ball towards the front positions, I want to attack. I know I'm the kind of a player, so I'm playing with the aware of playing laterally.

GK #18   KAIHORI Ayumi (INAC Kobe)
We were able to improve our issues with everyone today. Whether we're inside Japan or in Canada, it's no different that we have to accumulate things day by day. We want to keep doing what we are supposed to do, and when we have issues to fix, we want to work on those with everyone. Switzerland have players that are fast up front, so we want to eliminate mistakes in our own territory. The first match will be an important game, and it'll be important for us to not give up goals. It'll be a key for us to not miss anyone and play with the entire team.
