Goal Keeper Class A coach training course – the second half session held

The second half course of Goal Keeper Class A coach training for fiscal year 2014 was held three days on 16 to 18 June at Kashima Heights Sports Plaza in Ibaraki prefecture. 32 participants who were at its first half training held in January continued to take part in this training.

Comment From Instructor

KAWAMATA Noriyuki Instructor
The instructions were given on practical coaching of function training and practical coaching in the game at the first half course held in January. During five months till the second half training, the participants were asked to conduct total of 10 practical coaching including practical coaching for five themes of function training and five themes of game. They were required to make self-evaluation of the practical coaching and get a feedback from coach who has Class A or higher license.
Having worked on the requested topics, every participant has been trying to overcome the issues and improve the skills. It was followed by the second half training which was organized to give them a chance to demonstrate their improved skill and conduct coaching in three days.
All the participants came to the training seemed to be in better condition than the first half training, suggesting they have spent constructive days in the past five months. At practical coaching session, it was requested to give it 100 percent try as a GK coach for giving instructions to a goal keeper and a team including goal keeper. Never lose your concentration when you play as a field player and a goal keeper. As an instructor, I was moved with the participants’ positive attitude for learning coaching skill.

In addition to practical coaching, we held group discussion and made a presentation on three cases divided in six groups on the first day evening. We had a discussion on “Mental approach from goal keeper coach”, what goal keeper coach should do – when, where, to whom, what and how when you coaching in a situation could be happening in a professional team.
In the second day evening, we had a group discussion for six subjects in six groups and made a presentation. The main theme was “Building a training program” such as what GK coach should do according to the team’s training theme, in terms of when, where, who, to whom and how, including relationship with staff.
On the first day and second day, we could deepen the discussion further in the whole group following the presentation by each group. In spite of rainy season, it was lucky to have three straight days of clear sky; we could conduct an intensive course with the help from two supporting players. Goal Keeper Class A coach is the highest coaching license of goal keeper coach in Japan. I hope every participant will be playing a leading role in goal keeper coaching in Japan.

Comments From Participants

Mr. TAKEDA Yukio
Thank you for giving me an opportunity to attend training course for Goal Keeper Class A coach.
Particularly the most interesting lesson was the group discussion on building training program. It was good for me to think about the theory of a goal keeper coaching taking the training situation into consideration.
In the light of developing skill from Class C to, B and A, the training was well-organized to understand what is needed for a goal keeper and a goal keeper coach to do in each age group.
As the training of Goal Keeper Class A contains some of Class A Coach general training, it was difficult to take control of the game as a whole but I learned many things.
I am going to implement what I learned at this training when I do coaching; I am going to brush up my skill to become better goal keeper coach at the same time.I am glad to be a part of team in raising standard of goal keeper coaching.

Mr. TAKENO Shuhei
It was a valuable experience for me because the instructor presented what should be done to improve further. I am becoming comfortable with taking control while taking care of what to watch and moving the team.
Also it was good to have a group discussion for both topics of the training because I could listen to other participant’s comments.
I will take advantage of the lessons I took. Thank you very much.
