U-23 Japan Women’s National Team’s 4th day activity report (3/3)

04 March 2016

U-23 Japan Women’s National Team’s 4th day activity report (3/3)

U-23 Japan Women’s National Team were on the fourth day of the Spain trip.

In the morning, the team was divided into two groups for the training – one with the players, who had played in the match the day before, and the other who had not. The players, who had been on the pitch, started with some light running, followed by some stretches to recover for the coming game after a one-day break. Those who had stayed on the bench practiced passing and controlling. They also trained to keep possession, and then did some 2-on-1 and 4-on-4 on the half-size pitch to finish the hour-and-a-half session.

Players' Comments

INOUE Ayaka (VEGALTA SENDAI LADIES)
We were divided depending on positions in today’s session, and focused on controlling the defensive line and clearing the ball in defence. In attack, we practiced shots. We also went through how to react to crosses and the details of set pieces. Although we won our first game 4-0, I still have tasks to work on both individually and as a team. I’d like to fix them for the coming matches. We’ll prepare as a united team to earn a victory.

OSHIMA Mizuki (Waseda University)
During a intrasquad game in the afternoon session, I found that it’s essential to keep the defensive line high and focus on covering, as well as move in line with how I see the game developing, against an opponent with strong kicking strength. I’d like to prepare enough prior to the game against Sweden.
