Match Report

U-16 Japan National Team faced U-17 Poland National Team in the final match of the Balcom BMW CUP International Youth Soccer in Hiroshima 2015. The contest between the teams who posted one win and one loss so far became a stage to battle for the runners-up as the U-17 Uzbekistan National Team beat U-17 Hiroshima Selection in the first match of the day.

Unlike the past two matches held in the hot temperature, the temperature was milder due to rain during the match.

The match saw Japan allow Poland to find their pace early and give up the opening goal in the 19th minute. And Japan finished the first half without creating any clear-cut chance for themselves.

Japan replaced five players from the start of the second half, yet Poland grabbed another goal before the match finished with Poland's 2-0 win. Japan ended the tournament in third place among the four teams.

Coach’s Comment

KIMURA Kokichi, Coach
In today's match, the opponents outplayed us in terms of the intensity on the ball and the mental side. Japanese players need to learn the ability to show good performances in a pressured situation and work on it even in their daily training.

But by playing two matches against overseas teams in this tournament, the players must have learned a lot and that turned out to be a good experience. We ended up finishing in third place. But I hope they will make use of what they got in this tournament and keep up their work with aspirations to be called up to the national team again.
