U-17 Japan Women’s National Team prepare for the U-17 World Cup Final in Jordan and participate in cultural exchange with local students

There are only two more days to prepare for the final of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Jordan 2016, and the U-17 Japan Women’s National Team had training sessions in the afternoon. Keeping a good level of tension, the players warmed up with jogging and agility work-outs, and then they had passing and control exercises, moved on to possession training in 5-on-5 on a two-thirds pitch, and followed by seven-a-side intrasquad scrimmage. Subsequently, they got divided into two groups, offence and defence, and trained separately, focusing on the details. While the team’s coaching staff gave them specific instructions, the squad members encouraged each other and devoted themselves in the training for the final, whereby the world champion of their generation is at stake.

After the training, the team participated in the international exchange with the local secondary school students at their training venue. The squad members and Jordanian girls were divided into four groups to play mini-games and later enjoyed Jordan’s traditional dance together. The players looked happy and relaxed and the local participants also rejoiced in the heart-warming meeting. There were laughs and smiles everywhere during the event.

On 20 October, the press conference will be held at Amman International Stadium, where the final will take place. On the same date, the team will have another training session in preparation for their last match.

Players' Comments

FW #16 ENDO Jun (JFA academy FUKUSHIMA)
Today we had an excellent training in preparation for the final. Compared to the previous training sessions, we showcased better strength in battles for the ball and coordination in both defence and offence. We haven’t achieved anything yet. We will do our best and bring the good news to our supporters.

We will meet the U-17 DPR Korea in the final on 21 October. We will win it out and, along with all of those who supported us, end with smiles on our faces. Your support will be greatly appreciated.

MF #15 CHIBA Remina (Fujieda Junshin High School)
Today we had training sessions for the final match against U-17 DPR Korea. This will be the last one with my teammates. Therefore, I really want to win the title together and go back to Japan with smiles. Personally, I want to contribute to the team by being a part of scoring. In order to do so, I want to display my strength as much as possible.
