U-19 Japan National Team short-listed squad play a real match format in training

The Day 3 of U-19 Japan National Team short-listed squad training had a "Field Test" in the morning to test jumping ability, sprinting ability and stamina of the players. And in the afternoon, the squad trained in situations close to a real match including 5-on-6 and 7-on-8 scrimmages to go through team tactics for a practice match scheduled on the following day.

During the afternoon practice session, Japanese international FC Schalke 04 defender UCHIDA Atsuto paid a visit and gave encouragement to the future Japanese internationals. The players were listening to his words, which deeply inspired them. Tomorrow, the young squad will play a practice match against All-Japan University Selection to cap their training camp.

Players' Comments

NAKAYAMA Yuta (Kashiwa Reysol)
Ahead of the AFC U-19 Championship in October, we started our season with this team. I'm happy to be here and appreciate for that. Today, we had a field test in the morning and found out my weaknesses. I felt I need to improve myself from now on. In the afternoon, we tried to deepen understanding on tactics in the training with the ball. And I felt I need to raise my quality of defensive line management and play in front of goal when it comes to playing against world's top teams. Tomorrow we have a match. We will try to play good football and turn in a good result.

IWASAKI Yuto (Kyoto Tachibana High School)
We took a field test in order to know ourselves in the morning today. Among various tests, the final test Yo-Yo was hardest. I was able to put my all into everything anyway. In the afternoon, we had training for tomorrow's match. I met some of the players for the first time or after a long time, but we went it through, communicating with each other very well. We will stick to the result and try to play our game in tomorrow's match, and hopefully we can keep sharing the understanding in the team for the October's AFC U-19 Championship.

KUNIMOTO Takahiro (Avispa Fukuoka)
In the morning, we did a field test and, in the afternoon, mostly had training with real defenders coming at you to defend. I found out what I can do and what I cannot do to realise my personal limits during the morning test. In the afternoon, we worked on drills with defenders on in an outnumbering situation, and I think I could show off my strength. We have a match tomorrow. I will bring out my best and work hard for the team!

HATSUSE Ryo (Gamba Osaka)
I'm very happy to take part in this national team camp after a year of absence. We went through tactics during game-style training today. The camp will be finished with tomorrow's match, but I will showcase what I've got and sell myself to come back to the next camp.
