Match Report

Futsal Japan National Team played against A.S.D. Cogianco Genzano for the fifth time on 9 October.

The players kicked-off at 8pm after a warm and welcoming atmosphere. During the warm-up session, the theme music of “Captain Tsubasa”, one of the very popular Japanese football animes, and National Anthems were played before the match.

In the match, both teams expressed their strengths very well from the beginning of the game with good transition from attack to defense. However, both teams missed good chances to score and the first half finished 0-0.

After the difficult time for both teams not scoring in the first half, Japan got its first goal by Morioka’s sudden shot with toe-kick on 36 minutes.

However, A.S.D. Cogianco Genzano scored an equaliser with powered play in the last 90 seconds and got another goal before the end of the match. Japan allowed the opponents’ third score with only 8 seconds left after Japan’s trying to score. In the end, Japan lost the match 1-3 and they have lost 3 training matches so far during this training camp.

Comments

Miguel RODRIGO, Head Coach
I appreciate today’s match was wonderful even though we lost the match. We took most of the initiative in the match like we were leading the game 39 minutes of 40minutes. However, I know that Italy and Spain have such a powerful plays to enable everything. It is a shame that Japan could not defend them, but I am satisfied with what they did in the match today. The aim of this training camp is to learn and to improve ourselves; we have had good lessons. Tomorrow will be an off-day and we will get ready for the next match against Pescara on the day after tomorrow.

SATO Toru (Shriker Osaka)
It was a bitter match today. I think what we have to change most as a team is scoring; we could carry a ball in very well both in offense and defense from the beginning, but we could not score any goals. Of course avoiding allowing opponents’ to score goals consecutively is also what we have to correct.
From all of the experiences in this training camp in Italy, I personally feel that Italian teams have different “sensitivity” in scoring from us. We have only one game to go in this training camp. I know that making good results is what we need to do. Even though we have tried our best in our matches, I just want to stick very strongly to winning the last match in Italy.

YOSHIKAWA Tomoki (Nagoya Oceans)
It was a difficult match again. I know one of the reasons we lost the match was we could not score even when we made good opportunities during the game. Regarding the 3 consecutive goals which we allowed them to score, we definitely have to improve ourselves more not only as a individual player but also as a team. The next match will be the last one. I want to finish this training camp in Italy with a victory.
