Coach and Player's Comments
German PORTANOVA, Head Coach
I am delighted for this opportunity to visit Japan. I have visited many countries, but Japan is an incredibly clean and wonderful country where I would love to work in the future. As for the Japan Women's National Team, I consider them to be one of the top teams in the world, along with the Spain Women's National Team. The Argentina Women's National Team is striving to get better, but we are not at the same level yet. I have a high regard for the Japan Women's National Team, and they are a team we wish to become one day. So, in that sense, this friendly means a lot to us. Although we finished without a win at the FIFA Women's World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023™, we gained a lot from the tournament. We are missing many of our key players who play for Boca Juniors due to their participation in the Copa Libertadores, but this is a wonderful opportunity for us to play against a formidable opponent like Japan. We know how strong Japan is, but we are going to give our all to put on a spectacular match for the Japanese fans.
Aldana COMETTI (Madrid CFF/Spain)
I walked around the city of Kitakyushu, and the people were very kind and helpful, which made me very happy. It made me want to know more about Japan. We, the Argentina Women's National Team, are a team on the rise, constantly planning and tackling new challenges. Although it is a friendly, it is a crucial match for us to play against a formidable Japanese side, who won the World Cup in 2011, and we hope to make the most of this opportunity. I am hoping that the Japanese people will be able to watch the performances showcased by both national teams and take in some great women's football.
